Join the Hotel Arts Group as a Chef de Partie at SAIT Dining Centre, where quality and efficiency define our culinary excellence. Working closely with the Chef de Cuisine, you will play a pivotal role in delivering exceptional catering experiences.
Key Responsibilities:
  • Ensure culinary staff members are maintaining cleanliness and organization in the kitchen by assisting with their prep lists and food preparation as needed.
  • Ensure culinary staff receive proper training to succeed in their positions.
  • Oversee quality control by ensuring food tastes as expected and all ingredients are fresh and within expiry.
  • Teach kitchen staff to prepare menu items effectively and consistently.
  • Facilitate the safety and well-being of staff or guests by addressing injuries or illnesses promptly.
  • Assist in ordering raw products needed by the kitchen by:
    • Compiling orders based on the scope of functions and events.
    • Ensuring proper storage of all incoming products.
  • Support kitchen colleagues in their duties through advice and direct assistance as needed.
  • Maintain standardized practices, mise en place (M.E.P.) standards, food storage, and handling techniques.
  • Assist in running daily services by:
    • Coordinating staff and directing them as required.
    • Checking food quality.
    • Expediting services effectively.
  • Oversee cleanliness in kitchen areas.
  • Support the Chef de Cuisine’s culinary vision through implementation and execution.
  • Work kitchen stations as required.
  • Address special food requests or concerns as needed.
  • Train staff and mentor colleagues who display a passion for cooking.
  • Perform other comparable or transient duties within the scope of this position.
Qualifications:
  • 2-3 years of experience in a similar role.
  • Journeyman certification or working towards Red Seal certification.
  • Food Safety Certification
  • Experience in large volume cooking, particularly in saucier and entremetier roles.
  • Availability for breakfast, lunch, and dinner shifts, with a flexible weekly schedule.
  • Physical stamina to stand, bend, kneel, and lift items weighing 25 pounds or more.
