Maintenance Mechanic

The Hotel Arts is currently seeking an Maintenance Mechanic to ensure that the Hotel Arts Complex is a safe, well-functioning and well-maintained facility that meets the expectations of our guests, colleagues, lessees and regulatory agencies. 

On a daily basis, the Maintenance Mechanic may be charged with the following tasks and more:

  • Create, implement and execute a preventive maintenance program that covers maintenance for all Hotel and Gallery heating, ventilation, and air conditioning equipment, including but not limited to make-up air units, exhausts fans, roof top units, PTAC units, and VAV boxes
  • Create, implement and execute a preventive maintenance program that covers maintenance and repairs for all refrigerated kitchen equipment, including but not limited to ice machines, walk-in coolers, beer fridges and small kitchen appliances
  • Cleaning of cooling towers, coils, evaporators and condenser tubes and water treatment, not including the assembling and disassembling of equipment not under the direct supervision of a Journeyman or apprentice
  • Light plumbing duties and drain cleaning knowledge
  • Service all dimensions of infrastructure within Hotel Arts including, but not limited to, guest rooms, common areas, restaurants, kitchens, meeting spaces, pool, offices, signage and exterior/landscaping.
  • Service all dimensions of Gallery base building infrastructure including, but not limited to, HVAC, water supply, lighting, access/egress, electrical, signage, and exterior/landscaping.
  • Service all dimensions of the Surface and Underground parkade including, but not limited to, maintenance, repairs, cleaning, signage, parking equipment, and lighting.
  • Adaptable to flexible and on-call schedules as business needs dictate, including weekends, evenings, holidays and overnight periods.
  • Maintain communication with Hotel Arts Complex before and after scheduled shifts (On-Call) as directed.
  • Complete other related duties within the realm of building maintenance and repair as directed by the Facilities Operations Manager, Facilities Office Manager, or Director of Operations.
  • Perform other related duties as required 

Position Requirements: 

  • 5+ years of previous related experience in HVAC and Refrigeration Equipment
  • Ticketed trade/certificate/designation is a strong asset
  • Previous hotel experience is an asset
  • Excellent time management, verbal and written communication skills
  • Basic computer knowledge an asset
  • A valid Class 5 drivers license
  • Adaptable to flexible and on-call schedules as business needs dictate (may include weekends, evenings, holidays and some overnight periods)
